Kolkata Tapes #2

Some dreams do come true. One of mine did last year when I was graced with the presence of two if India's most iconic musicians at one of my concerts in Kolkata, India on aug 17th 2012.

Amyt Datta and Monojit 'Kochu' Datta are household names and mentors for every contemporary musician in India in some way or the other, me included especially so.

What was planned to be an official Video/Audio recording unfortunately fell prey to Kolkatas traffic and we were left without our cameraman or recording facilities and at the mercy of bootlegged material from the audience to give you a glimpse of what happened that night.

Above is the pre-release video. DOWNLOAD THE BOOTLEG (Its Free).

Your participation and support is deeply appreciated.

Please spread the word.

Sincerely,

T.L.

'Farewell' : A Christmas Single For A Cause

Dear friends,

In the spring of 2010, me and my band were in the studio recording material for a new album. In a rather unfortunate turn of events however, we parted ways shortly afterwards leaving me with recorded material some of which was of very high artistic quality. Since the this entire effort was a collective one by musicians none of whom were working with immediate financial interests in mind, we all mutually agreed to put it up for a free download. Albeit one which does generate income for charity.

This is our effort to spread a little Christmas spirit.

Income will be generated by every free download made online and forwarded to Feed The Children Inc.

I am currently negotiating a way that the rest of the proceeds which the artist usually receives over the website will also be donated completely to the cause. If not, I will personally donate any proceeds myself.

All you have to do is click on the link that will be released this Saturday 17th December 2011, register on the website and download the song.

It a few minutes of your time, costs you nothing and could help others if there are substantial downloads.

Your support in the endeavour will be deeply appreciated.

Merry Christmas.

The Song:

'Farewell' is written by my long-time friend Mumbai-NewYork-based journalist and musician Sumit Bhattacharya a.k.a. Summit Attempt. It would have been the first official inclusion of a song on my album that wasn't written by myself. While not necessarily revolving around a traditional Christmas theme, it's general storyline of a young boys efforts and hopes in finding his way back home in the cold is one which that should find some resonance in most of us during this time of the year.
What you hear is the result of studio sessions held in Mannheim (Germany), Kolkata (India) and my portable and Home-studio/s.

'Kolkata Tapes': Official Online Release : 13th March 2011

Dear friends,

My first concert this year was on the 3rd of Dec at Someplace Else, at Park Street, Kolkata; a club which some have called the 'Live Music Capital' of India and the only venue boasting of live music seven nights a week.

Although not originally planned, video and audio recordings of the concert featuring my collaboration with local artists were made.

The results coupled with interview footage recorded later on in Mannheim have now been put together to produce a 30minute 2-part Documentary film.

All concert footage shown is live with no 'enhancements' on audio. The interview gives me a chance to talk about what the Experimental Singer-Songwriter concept is about.

The online release of this film will be this Sunday 13th March at 12 noon CET. Links to the movie will be found here and on the facebook event site.

Your viewership and support in this cross continental independent endeavour will be deeply appreciated.

The entire film has been produced on the basis of a collaboration between six independent artists across four countries, without whom this would not have been possible.

Spread the word.

Namaste
